Meeting Asian Women Biography

 Source(Google.com.pk)
f you ever wonder why you don’t see more Asian guys coupling up with White girls, wonder no more! This mini documentary by a USC student and another student from the Communication University of China, gives insight into this phenomenon. It’s not sexual prowess, says one Chinese woman, because out of all her ex-boyfriends, the best one in bed was a Chinese guy from college.

Some of the guys in the video cite cultural differences as a barrier. One even says that he started to date a White girl at work, but it didn’t go well once he realized that she didn’t get his references to wuxia (Chinese fiction about martial artists) and the fiercely competitive college entrance exam in China or gaokao.
I'm happy to hear a "balanced" perspective from an Asian-American woman. Too many times, we get the "I date only white men" syndrome and that is not productive when those women are just spewing hate against Asian men.

I thought about blogging about how I see Asian / Asian-Amiercan women dating patterns from friends and others but decided against it. Since we're here, let me offer some thoughts:

1.
There are a LOT of Asian women in Diane's shoes. They may "prefer" Asian men but for whatever reason, guys don't approach or just don't like them. It's a mix of reasons. Guys can be shy. The women doesn't quite fit the man's standards, etc, etc. Diane (like others) sometime don't have a choice and try dating others.

2.
"I don't date Asian Men" women. These are quite annoying in the sense that they just dismiss everyone without a second thought. Daniel Dae Kim or John Cho could walk by and they wouldn't give a damn. The funny thing about these women is these gals usually prefer "white men". I've always thought that I shouldn't feel bad since these women dismiss black and Latino men as well.

3.
There are women who have dated a ton of men (Asian included) and settled on a white / black / hispanic guy . A female friend of mine dated a guy friend of mine (Asian) in high into college. Dated some hispanic dude for a while and now is attached to a white guy. This female friend definitely is NOT a petite type so she didn't get a lot of attention from Asian guys. Too bad as she's got a good personality. These women are fair though may get a bad rap for getting with a white guy in this day and age.

4.
There are Asian women who either don't date white guys or tried and didn't see anything special. The last girl I dated semi-seriously (for about 2 to 3 months) told me she dated mostly Asian. She also dated some white guys but she didn't find anything special. She just got married to an Asian guy recently.

5.
Foreign born girls are a mixed bag. I've heard from some folks that most Japanese women who immigrate to the US states are usually semi-outcasts and want to marry non-Japanese/Asian. I know a few foreign born Japanese gals who all married white guys though one Japanese gal married a Japanese guy. Chinese girls are more traditional from what I see but you get a share of them dating non-Asian/Chinese.

Sorry for the LONG comment but here's the thing that is a little frustrating. Asian-Americans like Diane or Melissa know of the stereotypes and rebel against them. However, I don't think foreign born women are as aware. I'm not saying the foreign born women will play into the geisha stereotypes intentionally. But when they come to the US, they may find the attention they get from guys flattering rather than scary.

Good post Diane. I may comment more in a bit......trying to finish a late dinner....hahahaha

Another big cultural difference is the attitude towards dating. During a group discussion, the female Chinese interviewee says that in America, there are three distinctive steps of romance — dating, relationship, and marriage. She says that in China, people only start dating with marriage in mind. The group then jokingly (and maybe half seriously?) cites a famous Chairman Mao quote in unison: “When one loves another without considering marriage as the goal, it’s sexual harassment.”

My thoughts on the matter is that you’re always going to face cultural barriers if you date out of your race. My parents certainly did — my dad is Chinese but born and raised in the Philippines, while my Japanese mom was born and raised in Japan. Maybe that’s not as big of a gap as someone from a Western culture dating an Asian, but I still think it’s a matter of embracing those differences. Both just need to have an open mind towards each other. But I guess having different marriage expectations can definitely be a hurdle. Still, I wonder why you see more Asian women dating White guys than vice versa. What do you think?

Career[edit source | editbeta]

In 1979 P. T. Usha participated in the National School Games, where she was noticed by O. M. Nambiar, who coached her throughout her career. Her debut in the 1980 Moscow Olympics proved lacklustre. In the 1982 New Delhi Asiad, she got the silver medal in the 100m and the 200m, but at the Asian Track and Field Championship in Kuwait a year later, Usha took the gold in the 400m with a new Asian record[citation needed] . From 1983-89, Usha garnered 13 golds at ATF meets.
At the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, she finished first in the semi-finals of the 400 metres hurdles, but faltered in the finals, reminiscent of Milkha Singh's 1960 defeat. There was a nail-biting photo finish for the third place.[3] Usha lost the bronze by 1/100th of a second. She became the first Indian woman (and the fifth Indian) to reach the final of an Olympic event by winning her 400m hurdles semi-final.
In the 10th Asian Games held at Seoul in 1986, P. T. Usha won 4 gold medals and 1 silver medal in the track and field events. Here she created new Asian Games records in all the events in which she participated. She won five golds at the 6th Asian Track and Field Championship at Jakarta in 1985. Her six medals at the same meet is a record for a single athlete in a single international meet.[citation needed]
Usha has won 101 international medals so far. She is employed as an officer in the Southern Railways. In 1985, she was conferred the Padma Shri and the Arjuna Award.
Currently she coaches young athletes at her training academy in Kerala, including Tintu Luka, who was qualified for the women's semi-final 800m at the London 2012 Olympics.
